Poems

POEM: I HAVE

I have laughed

and I have cried.

I have protected

and I have sacrificed.

I have been there for,

I have adored.

I have loved

and felt love forevermore.

I have lost

and I have fought.

I have risked

and I have taught.

I have allowed my tongue to whip

to make you laugh,

to make you think.

I have been fruitful.

I have been frugal.

I have been scared

and I’ve been hopeful.

I have smiled,

yet ached inside.

I have lost,

yet somehow survived.

I have learned to stay grounded,

and take nothing for granted –

in a flick, like a switch, in a second, in a blink, everything can spin into the hands of the wind.

I have laughed

and I have cried.

I have spent

and I have died…

inside my mind.

I have.

Poem: She Was Here…

She was here and now she’s gone.

Like the ending of a song.

That fades but lingers in your mind.

Time after time.

I hear her voice inside my head, the witty things she always said.

I see her in the morning mist and all the things she gave to me.

She would tell me to be strong.

To think of her but carry on.

And how could I do otherwise, when she was truly one of a kind.

She was here and now she’s gone. Like the ending of a song.

Poem – The Sea

IMG_5435

She dances to the whistles of the midnight air

Her smooth body swaying, awake and aware

And vessels that cross her in awe and delight

Succumb to her wishes on furious nights

When waters run wild

And boundaries break free

She collides with the mountains and shivering fleet

And yet all the while, deep down beneath

Sea creatures roam in tranquillity

The beautiful ocean

The mystical sea
